It’s about “living the ideas of being a Muslim and being true to your faith but as part of a broader society,” said Nadir Shirazi, one of the organizers of the conference and the CEO of a diversity training company. “We are after all part of a broader community of Canadians.”

Attractive To Flies
As a grad student in Toronto, I always seemed to attract the bums on the streets and subways. Must’ve been the charisma, the rich student-loan wardrobe, or the gold fillings.
Imam Johari Abdul Malik seems to attract radical Muslims for no reason he seems able to explain. Like Nadil Hasan, who attended Malik’s mosque in Virginia in 2001. Heard of him? The Fort Hood Shooter ring a bell? The strangely consistent bad luck continues:

Imam Malik himself may be pure as the driven snow, but of all the mosques around, the baddies seem to feel at home at his, or with places he also frequents. What’s with that?
Add to that, Malik’s a soft-jihadist, and sharia supremacist who in 2004 was hoping for the future overthrow of the United States by Islam and sharia law for everybody: Johari: Islam will be USA’s First Religion… who knew?
Now– it might just be that the steering committee for this giant gathering were clueless; or perhaps ill-advised.. or then again, maybe this is the mainstream of Islam in North America these days, ignored by the vast majority of un-informed Canuckis who just want to live and let live and get along, and who can’t imagine giant plots for world domination by the secretive and totalitarian religion that is Islamism in the 21st century.
Whilst we’re at it, I’d love to see the donor’s list for a world-class conference like this.. such big names and fancy digs don’t come cheaply.

As he will recall, the warning said, “…fundraising in support of violent foreign struggles takes place in Canada…Front groups operating in Canada include the Jerusalem Fund for Human Services (Hamas Front)”.
Thirty-six months later, the Prime Minister has done nothing to seize this group’s assets. Now that he has had another 24 hours to reflect, could he tell us what actions he has taken to seize this group’s assets and to shut them down?
Hon. Wayne Easter (Solicitor General of Canada, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, the hon. member knows that the Government of Canada is taking very decisive steps to address the global threat posed by terrorism, by terrorists around the world. We take every piece of information seriously.
The fact of the matter is that the listing process is a very thorough and strenuous process. In the listing process we take into consideration criminal and security intelligence information. I believe that on that basis we are certainly doing our job to protect the security of Canadians.

According to the association of Palestinian Canadians, the Hamas group’s parent organization is the International Relief Fund for the Afflicted and Needy, which, we have just learned, is a Canadian organization that has tax deductible status. In other words, the Hamas front group can use its parent body to raise these funds and get a tax receipt.
